founded in 1955
by three young men all between the ages of 20 and 25, all three bearing the same surname of MOLTO. Two of them were brothers: Antonio and Pedro and the third was José.
With few resources but with great determination and a will to work that they have never lost, they started out as toy-makers.
It all began in a small workshop measuring just 40m2. They made the toys with the materials of the time: tin and wood.
Antonio and Pedro, mechanics, made the forms and moulds to work the tin with the help of their father (who was the first toy manufacturing mechanic in Ibi).
The wood was worked by José using the experience he had gained working in the furniture industry from when he was young.
Later on, another member joined the family; Vicente. The first toys they made were lorries and trailers.
Their first own industrial workshop was built measuring some 1,000 m2.
They installed a mechanical workshop with state-of-the-art machinery to build the moulds and gradually bought bigger and bigger machines for plastics eventually setting up a small but modern factory boasting good technology and providing high production.
During that era work was done solely for the national market which for the time was highly protected.
We went to the Nuremberg Toy Fair for the first time.
Contacts were made with clients from different countries and representatives were appointed in the most significant European and South American markets and thus the export department was organised.
Since then the export market has been one of the company’s main priorities which is why much time and investment has been spent on it.
A design department was created and another for quality control; the way the moulds were made was changed and more modern and efficient production equipment was introduced.
A collection of designs, materials and finishes was presented which could hold its own alongside that of even the most advanced countries.
As well as that
another objective was launched, to increase awareness of the MOLTÓ brand; leaving the work in the capable hands of the best designers of the time the image and branding was changed, all backed up with a great publicity campaign on the television.
1981 creation of the company
MECÁNICA Y DISEÑO S.A.(Mechanics and Design) to develop our own designs and build new generation moulds. They were armed with the best machinery and state of the art tools incorporating two dimensional graphics generated on a computer, which was all that was available at the time.
1982 An office with a permanent exhibition was opened at the Toy Center on 5th Avenue in New York.
1988 We widened our borders by manufacturing toys outside Spain, more precisely in Argentina and Brazil.
1990 Another company MAC MOLTO S.A. was formed to develop a new line of complementary products, different from those produced so far.
1990 Moltó changed the concept of the self-assembly articles (baby-walkers and tricycles) when they launched Molto Cross. This new product provided small children with greater freedom and revolutionised the Spanish market in that type of product.
1996 A new company was born MAC MOLTO USA, INC., based in MIAMI to develop the US market as far as possible.
The following year, this company started manufacturing toys in St Louis, Missouri.
1996 The company MAC MOLTO DE MEXICO S.A. was formed CV to manufacture articles for this very strong market and to export from there all over Latin America. The factory was built in Mexico D.F..
MOLTO y CIA. S.A. was installed in a new plant occupying 22,000m2 with better facilities and more modern machinery.
This modern infrastructure allowed production to be tripled.
All MOLTO products comply with strict safety standards enforced in the EU and the US such as EN 71, EN 62115 and ASTM F963. We also hold the ISO 9001 certification.
MOLTO presents their new products every year at the Nuremberg Toy Fair , in Hong Kong, at the Kind & Jugend and at all the best toy fairs and shows worldwide. There is also a permanent presence in all major European cities.
Moltó Hong Kong was created in 2007 to widen still further the range of sales possibilities and introduce our products into the ever growing Chinese market.
All five companies are working at full capacity providing a presence in 82 countries, become one of the six top manufacturers in the national toy market and one of the top five in Mexico.
Over these last 50 years MOLTO, has consolidated
their brand as a benchmark for
trust, quality and design.
